Task Analysis with Flowcharts

I make these all the time! Truly one of the most useful tools for thoughtful design and team alignment. Flowcharts can represent an algorithm, workflow, customer journey or process to help identify key stages of an action. This diagrammatic representation illustrates a solution model to a given problem. Flowcharts are used in analyzing, designing, documenting or managing a process or program in various fields.

Flowcharts help improve or define the wireframe design for accessible content. This is mandatory to gain a better understanding of any stage of a product. I can’t imagine how else I could make sense of so many pages without flowcharts giving me a high level perspective of overlapping interactions.

I compare it to authors creating plot lines for a book. Defining the milestones in the users journey helps fine tune the details in between without losing track of the major goal.

Below are 3 variances of how my flowcharts could tell different stories.
